Met-L-Chek — R-503 Cleaner / Remover
Non-Petroleum Liquid Penetrant Cleaner and Remover, Case of 12 × 16 oz / 400 mL Aerosol CansSKU: 29204-0001
Overview
The Met-L-Chek R-503 is a non-petroleum cleaner and remover designed for professional liquid penetrant inspection workflows. It can be used to clean suitable inspection surfaces before penetrant application and to remove excess surface penetrant during compatible solvent-removable procedures.
Its aerosol format supports convenient application during field, shop, fabrication, maintenance, and QA/QC inspections. The portable cans eliminate the need for separate spray equipment and allow technicians to apply the cleaner directly or transfer it to a clean, lint-free cloth as required by the inspection procedure.
Supplied as a case of 12 aerosol cans, each containing 16 oz / 400 mL, SKU 29204-0001 provides a practical quantity for NDT service companies, welding operations, manufacturing facilities, maintenance departments, and industrial inspection teams.

Application Guidelines
For Pre-Inspection Cleaning
Remove paint, scale, rust, and heavy contamination when required
Apply R-503 to the inspection surface or a clean, lint-free cloth
Wipe the surface until removable oil, grease, dirt, and residue are eliminated
Allow the inspection surface to dry completely
Apply penetrant only after the cleaner has fully evaporated
For Excess Penetrant Removal
Complete the specified penetrant dwell time
Remove the initial excess penetrant using a clean, dry cloth
Apply R-503 to a separate clean, lint-free cloth
Wipe the surface carefully until excess background penetrant is removed
Avoid excessive cleaning that could remove penetrant from discontinuities
Allow the surface to dry before developer application
Direct spraying onto the component during excess penetrant removal should only be performed when permitted by the applicable procedure.
