NM01SMARTSCANFA
The SMARTSCAN-FA is a fully automated system engineered for the non-destructive testing of aircraft wheels, encompassing both main and nose wheel types from a variety of manufacturers, including Messier-Bugatti, Goodrich, Honeywell, and Maggitt. This advanced system employs eddy current testing (ECT) technology to efficiently and reliably detect surface and near-surface flaws in critical wheel areas such as the tubewell, bead seat, and flange. The SMARTSCAN-FA is designed to meet the requirements of ISO 15548-1.
Key Features:
Complete Automation: Executes the entire inspection cycle automatically, minimizing the need for continuous operator intervention.
Automated Flaw Response: Features a "Stop on Defect" mode, which immediately halts the inspection process upon the detection of a potential flaw.
Comprehensive Data Management: Enables the storage of detailed inspection results for thorough record-keeping and subsequent analysis.
Organized Data Structure: Facilitates the creation and maintenance of inspection result databases for efficient data retrieval.
Detailed Reporting Capabilities: Generates comprehensive inspection reports documenting the process parameters and any detected indications.
Integrated Eddy Current Instrument: Delivered with the Eddycon D eddy current flaw detector, a key component of the inspection system.
Automated Probe Verification: Performs an automated validation of the eddy current probe's (ECP) performance by scanning a reference standard before and after each inspection.
Adjustable Scan Parameters: Offers user-adjustable settings for the inspection helix and the rotational speed of the wheel.
Precise Wheel Positioning: Incorporates a reliable mechanism for accurately centering aircraft wheels weighing up to 330 lbs (150 kg).
Efficient Flaw Re-evaluation: Includes a "Return to Defect" function, allowing the system to automatically reposition to the location of a detected flaw for closer examination.
Intuitive Software Interface: Controlled through a dedicated software interface for easy parameter configuration, inspection initiation, and results review.
Flexible Data Storage: Inspection data can be conveniently saved to a connected personal computer.
Applications:
Automated non-destructive testing of aircraft main and nose wheels.
Detection of surface and near-surface discontinuities in aircraft wheel components.
Quality assurance in aircraft wheel maintenance, repair, and overhaul facilities.
Importance:
Enhances the safety and structural integrity of aircraft wheels through consistent and automated flaw detection.
Significantly improves inspection efficiency and throughput compared to manual inspection methods.
Provides detailed and auditable records of inspection results, supporting regulatory compliance and quality management systems.
