The Sonatest 2 MHz 12 mm TOFD probe is a de-mountable Time-of-Flight Diffraction transducer for weld inspection, flaw detection and defect sizing. Its low 2 MHz frequency and large 12 mm crystal give strong penetration for thicker sections, and its M12 thread screws into interchangeable TOFD wedges.
TOFD sizes flaws from the signals diffracted at their tips, which makes it highly accurate for crack height measurement and sensitive to defects in any orientation. The Lemo 00 connector links the probe to compatible TOFD-capable flaw detectors and scanner setups.

Probe Design
Deep penetration at 2 MHz
The low 2 MHz frequency carries sound further through thick welds and attenuative materials than higher-frequency probes.
Large 12 mm crystal
The 12 mm crystal puts more sound energy into the part than smaller elements, supporting strong, clear signals on thick-wall welds and demanding inspections.
Interchangeable M12 wedges
The de-mountable design screws into M12 TOFD wedges in plastic, stainless steel or brass at 45°, 60° or 70°. You can change the beam angle or replace a worn wedge without replacing the probe.
Lemo 00 connection
The standard Lemo 00 connector gives a secure link to compatible TOFD instruments and cable setups.
Rated for 0°C to 50°C
The probe operates from 0°C to 50°C (32°F to 122°F). High-temperature wedges up to 200°C (392°F) and contoured wedges are available on request.

Complete your TOFD setup
TOFD uses one transmitter and one receiver, so a full setup needs two of these probes, two M12 TOFD wedges at matching angles, and two Lemo 00 cables, plus a TOFD-capable instrument. Wedges and cables are not included.
