SE International — MC1K Handheld Gamma/X-Ray Survey Meter
4-Range Energy-Compensated Radiation Survey Meter, Up to 1,000 mR/hr / 10 mSv/hr, with Carrying Case & Battery
SKU: MC1K
Overview
The SE International Radiation Alert MC1K is a compact handheld radiation survey meter designed for accurate measurement of Gamma and X-Ray radiation across a broad dose-rate range.
Equipped with an energy-compensated Geiger-Mueller (GM) detector, the MC1K provides a more linear response to Gamma and X-Ray radiation and measures dose rates up to 1,000 mR/hr (10 mSv/hr) across four selectable ranges.
The instrument combines an easy-to-read analog display with audible and visual radiation indicators. An internal beeper provides an audible response to detected radiation events, while a flashing indicator light provides visual confirmation during surveys.
Its portable design, extended battery life, and high measurement range make the MC1K well suited for industrial radiography, X-Ray shielding surveys, radiation safety, industrial gauge monitoring, source location, and general radiation-survey applications.

The four selectable ranges allow technicians to move from low-level radiation surveys to substantially higher dose-rate measurements using the same portable instrument.
Energy-Compensated Detection
The MC1K uses an energy-compensated, halogen-quenched Geiger-Mueller detector specifically suited for Gamma and X-Ray monitoring.
Energy compensation improves detector response across the instrument's specified energy range, providing a more linear indication of Gamma and X-Ray dose rates compared with conventional non-compensated GM detectors.
This makes the MC1K especially useful where dependable dose-rate measurements are required across varying photon energies.
Audible & Visual Radiation Indication
The MC1K provides both audible and visual feedback during radiation surveys.
An internal beeper produces an audible indication as radiation events are detected, while a flashing count indicator provides visual confirmation of radiation activity.
These features help technicians quickly recognize changes in radiation levels while performing field surveys.
Anti-Saturation Protection
The MC1K incorporates an anti-saturation design that keeps the analog meter at full scale when exposed to radiation fields significantly above its maximum measurement range.
This feature is particularly important in high-radiation environments because it helps prevent an excessively strong field from incorrectly causing the meter indication to fall back toward a lower reading.
