Met-L-Chek VP-302 is a specialized, high-temperature, post-emulsifiable fluorescent penetrant formulated for the detection of surface-breaking flaws on hot surfaces. Supplied in a convenient 5-gallon pail, VP-302 offers an economical solution for high-volume inspections where components cannot be cooled to ambient temperatures.
Specifically designed for use on components with surface temperatures ranging from 125°F to 350°F (51.6°C to 176.6°C), VP-302 significantly reduces inspection process time by eliminating the need for complete cooling of parts before examination. This makes it ideal for in-field welding inspections, weld repair assessments, and the examination of refinery processing equipment operating at elevated temperatures.
VP-302 provides bright, highly fluorescent indications under UV-A (black) light, allowing for easy identification of even fine surface discontinuities such as cracks, porosity, and leaks. Being a post-emulsifiable penetrant, it requires the use of a lipophilic emulsifier (like Met-L-Chek E-59) to remove excess penetrant from the surface before applying the developer (such as Met-L-Chek D-702).
This product is low in sulfur, chlorine, fluorine, and other halogens, making it safe for use on titanium and high-nickel alloys commonly found in critical components, including those used in nuclear applications.
Key Selling Points:
High-Temperature Application: Specifically formulated for use on surfaces up to 350°F (176.6°C), eliminating cool-down time.
Bright Fluorescent Indications: Provides high-contrast, easily visible indications under UV-A light.
Post-Emulsifiable for Optimal Performance: Requires emulsifier for controlled removal of surface penetrant.
Safe for Critical Alloys: Low in sulfur and halogens, safe for use on titanium and high-nickel alloys.
Economical 5 Gallon Pail: Ideal for high-volume users, offering a cost-effective solution.
Benefits:
Increased Inspection Efficiency: Eliminates the time-consuming cool-down process for hot parts.
Improved Flaw Visibility: Bright fluorescent indications ensure easy identification of surface defects.
Versatile Applications: Suitable for field welding, repair inspections, and hot operating equipment.
Safe for a Wide Range of Materials: Can be used on various alloys without risk of corrosion or degradation.
Cost-Effective for Large-Scale Use: The 5-gallon pail provides a lower per-gallon cost for frequent users.
Applications:
Inspection of welds immediately after welding.
Examination of hot components during repair processes.
In-service inspection of refinery processing equipment.
Quality control on pre-heated parts prior to welding.
Any application requiring fluorescent penetrant inspection on surfaces with elevated temperatures.
