The Met-L-Chek® FP-922 is a Level 2, water-washable fluorescent penetrant. Approved to AMS-2644 as a fluorescent (Type 1) penetrant for Methods “A” (water washable) and “C” (solvent removable), it meets the requirements for a sensitivity Level 2 inspection penetrant.
Key characteristics of Met-L-Chek® FP-922:
Sensitivity Level 2: Provides a medium level of sensitivity, capable of detecting fine to medium-sized surface discontinuities in non-porous materials.
Fluorescent (Type 1): Contains fluorescent dyes that emit a bright yellow-green glow when exposed to ultraviolet-A (UV-A) light, enhancing the visibility of indications.
Water Washable (Method A): Excess penetrant can be easily removed from the surface of the test part by rinsing with water.
Solvent Removable (Method C): Can also be removed by wiping the surface with appropriate non-aqueous solvents as specified in AMS-2644.
AMS-2644 Approved: Meets the stringent quality and performance requirements outlined in the AMS-2644 specification for penetrant testing materials.
Low Sulfur and Halogen Content: Formulated with low levels of sulfur and halogens, making it suitable for use on a wide range of metallic materials, including sensitive alloys like titanium and nickel-based alloys, without the risk of causing corrosion or embrittlement.
Physical Properties: Typically appears as a clear, yellow-green viscous liquid.
Versatile Application: Can be applied using various methods such as immersion, spraying, or wiping, depending on the size and geometry of the component being inspected.
Ideal for Medium Sensitivity Inspections: Designed for applications where a balance is needed between detecting very fine flaws and larger, more readily apparent defects.
Compliance with Industry Standards: Conforms to the requirements of several other recognized industry specifications, including AMS-2647, ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section V, ASTM E-165, and ASTM E-1417.
