The PH Tool Navships Test Block is a calibration standard meticulously crafted from 1018 steel with a nickel-plated finish for enhanced durability and corrosion resistance. This block is specifically designed in accordance with MIL-STD-271G Figure 9 and NAVSHIPS Specification 0900-006-3010/Section 6, also known as a "Mare Island block," ensuring adherence to critical industry standards for ultrasonic testing.  

This particular configuration features six 3/64 inch diameter side-drilled through-holes strategically placed at distances ranging from 0.25 inches to 2.75 inches in precise 0.25-inch increments. These precisely located reflectors are essential for performing accurate distance amplitude correction (DAC), establishing sensitivity levels, and obtaining flaw depth information during ultrasonic inspections.

For ease of use and reference, Material Travel Distances (MTDs) are engraved near both scan edges on one face of the block. This aids technicians in quickly identifying the sound path distances for calibration and analysis.

The block is surface ground to a 32 Ra finish on all surfaces, ensuring consistent and reliable coupling during ultrasonic testing. It is also supplied with a fitted wooden case, providing robust protection for storage and transportation, maintaining the integrity and accuracy of the calibration standard.
