NM01ASTME317
The ASTM E317 RA Resolution Block is a precision-engineered evaluation block used for calibrating ultrasonic testing (UT) equipment to ensure reliable and accurate measurements. Available in Aluminum 7075 Clear Anodized or Steel 1018, this block complies with ASTM E317 standards and includes certification traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). Designed for use in demanding industrial environments, each block is available with options for either English or Metric measurement systems. This resolution block also comes in a protective hardwood case for safe storage and easy transport.
Engineered to meet ASTM E317's stringent guidelines, these blocks feature various options in terms of materials, such as Steel 1018, Aluminum 7075, Stainless Steel 304, Titanium 6/4, and Inconel 600. Additional material variants, like Hastelloy X and Monel 400, can be custom-ordered to meet specialized industrial requirements. The ASTM E317 RA Resolution Block also allows for a wide range of flat-bottom hole sizes and precise metal travel distances, including 1/64" at 3", 2/64" at 3", 5/64" at distances of 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", 1/2", 3/4", 1", and 1-1/2". These options provide flexibility for evaluating sensitivity, entry surface resolution, and the horizontal and vertical linearity characteristics of ultrasonic testing equipment in accordance with ASTM E317 specifications.
Each block is provided with Figure 1 or Figure 6 designs to meet specific testing needs:
- ASTM E317 Block, Figure 1: This configuration evaluates the horizontal and vertical linearity of UT systems, featuring two 3/64" side-drilled holes.
- ASTM E317 Block, Figure 6: This variant tests resolution characteristics with six 3/64" diameter flat-bottom holes to assess ultrasonic pulse-echo systems’ performance.
Certification and Customization Options
The blocks come with a Manufacturer Certificate of Conformance and Material Certification. For users requiring higher standards, Dimensional/Calibration Certification and Serialization are available for an additional fee. You may specify calibration types UT-RC-ASTM-E317-FIG6-CAL or UT-RC-ASTM-E317-FIG1-CAL to ensure the block meets your exact specifications for calibration accuracy.
These blocks are commonly used by manufacturers, quality inspectors, and laboratories that need to maintain consistent UT equipment standards in line with ASTM protocols. The optional hardwood case provides a secure and durable storage solution, safeguarding the resolution block from environmental and handling damage, thereby extending its service life.
The ASTM E317 RA Resolution Block's detailed design, superior materials, and robust certifications make it an essential tool for precision-focused industries, including aerospace, automotive, and materials testing laboratories.
