The Sonatest X3A-003 is a 5 MHz, 64-element phased array probe from the X3 series, built to run both sectorial scans (S-scan) and linear electronic scans (L-scan) from a single probe. Its 0.6 mm pitch and 38.4 mm aperture make it well suited to thick weld inspection and wide 0° linear scans.
The probe comes with an integral 2.5 m cable and a Quick I-PEX connector with adapter bracket, compatible with standard I-PEX phased array instruments. A full range of X3 wedges covers shear and longitudinal wave angles, a 0° delay line and irrigated versions.

Probe Design
5 MHz for weld inspection
A common frequency for weld work, 5 MHz balances resolution and penetration in steel.
Quick I-PEX connection
The Quick I-PEX (QX) latch connector and adapter bracket fit any standard I-PEX phased array instrument, including Sonatest's veo range.
Integral 2.5 m cable
The cable is built into the probe for a clean, reliable connection. Other cable lengths and an armoured cable are available on request.
Compact housing
At 45 × 23 × 20 mm (1.77 × 0.91 × 0.79 in), the probe keeps the probe-and-wedge assembly small and easy to handle.
Hard-faced option
A hard-faced version is available on request for added wear resistance in demanding contact work.
