Circle Systems — Mi-Glow® 106 Nonfluorescent Wet Method Magnetic Particles
Black Particles | Visible Light Inspection | 30 lb Jar | Water & Oil CompatibleSKU: FG-2438
Overview
The Circle Systems Mi-Glow® 106 is a premium-quality, black nonfluorescent wet method magnetic particle inspection powder designed for visible light (non-UV) magnetic particle testing (MPI) of ferromagnetic components. Engineered by Circle Systems — one of the most established and trusted names in magnetic particle inspection materials worldwide — Mi-Glow® 106 delivers superior sensitivity, consistent bath performance, and clear, well-defined indication buildup that makes surface-breaking and near-surface discontinuities easy to detect and evaluate under standard white light inspection conditions.
Supplied in a convenient 30 lb jar — the ideal bulk quantity for high-volume production inspection benches, mobile MPI units, and active NDT departments — Mi-Glow® 106 provides a cost-effective, long-duration supply that minimizes replenishment frequency and reduces per-inspection material costs. A particle certification confirming compliance with all relevant industry specifications is included with every shipment.

Circle Systems Exclusive Bonding Process — Total Particle Encapsulation
What sets Mi-Glow® 106 apart from generic magnetic particle powders is Circle Systems' proprietary particle manufacturing process — a complete encapsulation and bonding technique that permanently bonds the black pigment to every iron particle at the manufacturing stage. This total particle encapsulation delivers performance advantages that generic, unbonded particle powders simply cannot match:
- No free, unbonded pigment — unbound pigment in conventional powders creates an uneven, dirty background on the inspection surface that masks indications and increases false call rates. Mi-Glow® 106's completely bonded particles contain no free pigment — resulting in a consistently clean, low-background inspection surface that makes genuine indications stand out clearly
- Consistent particle size and bath behavior — the controlled manufacturing process produces particles of highly uniform size and magnetic characteristics, delivering predictable, reproducible bath performance across the full service life of the inspection bath
- Excellent carrier coverage — the encapsulated particle surface wets evenly and completely in both water and oil carrier systems, ensuring uniform particle distribution across the inspection surface and reliable migration to discontinuity locations
- Durable particle integrity — the bonded pigment coating resists mechanical degradation from pump circulation, bath agitation, and repeated use — maintaining particle performance and bath cleanliness over extended service periods
Water and Oil Compatible — Full System Flexibility
Mi-Glow® 106 is compatible with both major carrier system types used in wet method magnetic particle inspection:
Water-Based Systems Mix Mi-Glow® 106 with water and any Circle Systems wetting agent — including Wetting Agent #34 (borate-free), Wetting Agent #483 (borate-free), or Wetting Agent #771. Circle Systems wetting agents provide superior surface wettability, corrosion inhibition for both the inspection equipment and the component under test, and low-foaming properties that keep the bath surface clean and indications clearly visible.
Oil-Based Systems (CircleSol® M) Mi-Glow® 106 can also be used with CircleSol® M — Circle Systems' NDT-approved petroleum-based suspension vehicle with the highest flash point in the industry, rated non-flammable per 29 CFR 1910.106. CircleSol® M's slow evaporation rate makes oil-based bath maintenance easier and less frequent than water systems, and its near-zero odor and low toxicity significantly reduce health and safety concerns for operators working in the inspection area.
Enhanced Sensitivity with Mi-Glow® WCP White Contrast Paint
For maximum indication visibility and detection sensitivity on dark, rough, or machined metal surfaces, Mi-Glow® 106 performs best when used in conjunction with Mi-Glow® White Contrast Paint (WCP). The fast-drying white contrast paint creates a bright, uniform white background on the component surface — dramatically improving the visual contrast between the black Mi-Glow® 106 particle indications and the inspection surface. The resulting black-on-white indication display is significantly easier to detect and evaluate than black particles against a dark metal background — particularly for fine or tightly closed surface-breaking discontinuities.
Mi-Glow® WCP is resistant to wet method baths during inspection and is easily removed with acetone after inspection is complete.
Certification — Included with Every Shipment
Every shipment of Mi-Glow® 106 includes a particle certification confirming compliance with all relevant industry specifications. The included certification documents compliance with the following standards:
