Echo Ultrasonics VersaSonic® - Multipurpose High and Low Temperature Ultrasonic Couplant
Echo Ultrasonics VersaSonic® is a highly versatile, plant-based, and biodegradable ultrasonic couplant designed for a broad range of applications, from high-temperature flaw inspection to low-temperature thickness gauging. This unique formulation is available in two gel viscosities to suit various testing needs and environments. VersaSonic provides excellent ultrasonic transmission and corrosion inhibition on steel and cast iron, and it is compatible with most other metals and plastics. It does not contain plastic powders, ensuring instantaneous ultrasonic response without residue after inspection. Its low smoke and odor at elevated temperatures make it a user-friendly choice for demanding inspections.
Key Features:
Multipurpose: Suitable for both high and low temperature applications.
Wide Temperature Range: Effective from -10°F to 700°F (-23°C to 371°C). Note: Some sources indicate successful use up to 750°F (398°C) in open environments with thin films.
Two Gel Viscosities:
High Viscosity (HV): Stays in place on vertical and overhead surfaces, as well as on transducers.
Medium Viscosity (MV): Spreadable and can be easily brushed onto surfaces.
Excellent Corrosion Inhibitor: Provides superior, long-term corrosion protection for steel and cast iron.
Instantaneous Ultrasonic Response: Contains no plastic powders that can delay sound transmission.
Low Environmental Impact: Biodegradable and contains no perfluorocarbons, silicones, or nut oils.
Low Smoke and Odor: Suitable for use at elevated temperatures with minimal discomfort.
No Plastic Powder Char: Leaves no carbonaceous residue after high-temperature inspections.
2-fluid oz / 59 ml Tube: Convenient size for portable use and smaller applications.
Applications:
Flaw detection and thickness gauging in a wide temperature range.
Inspection of turbine rotors and other high-temperature components.
Extreme weather inspections (hot and cold environments).
Corrosion mapping and monitoring.
Ambient and low-temperature coupling where corrosion inhibition is critical.
General ultrasonic testing on various materials.
