The Dakota NDT FX71-DL, formerly the DFX-7+, combines state-of-the-art flaw detection with advanced material thickness capabilities in a handheld gauge. Set to flaw detector, it finds the size and position of flaws and tells flaw types apart in materials and welded joints. Set to thickness gauge, it measures coatings and material thickness at the same time.
DAC, AWS, TCG and DGS sizing toolkits, broadband and narrow-band filters, and automatic probe zero, recognition and temperature compensation make it ready for work on site or in the lab. Weighing only 397 g, it fits easily in one hand for inspections at height or in tight spaces.

Sunlight-readable AMOLED display
The 320 × 240 AMOLED color display offers exceptional visibility in sunlight, with a 16-color palette, variable brightness and a 60 Hz refresh rate.
Broadband plus narrow-band filters
A 1.8 to 19 MHz broadband filter is joined by three narrow bands at 2, 5 and 10 MHz, giving finer frequency control than the standard FX70-DL.
Advanced thickness modes
Pulse-echo, pulse-echo coating, temperature-compensated pulse-echo, echo-echo thru-paint, echo-echo verify and coating-only modes cover pits, flaws, coatings and coated surfaces.
Automatic setup
Automatic probe zero, probe recognition and temperature compensation get you measuring faster with fewer setup errors.
Compact and rugged
An extruded aluminum body with gasket-sealed, nickel-plated end caps works from -10°C to 60°C. It runs on 3 AA batteries for up to 12 hours, or from USB power.
