The Dakota NDT FX71-DL Dual UT Thickness Gauge and Flaw Detector (formerly DFX-7+) is an advanced and versatile handheld instrument that combines state-of-the-art ultrasonic flaw detection with comprehensive material thickness measurement capabilities in a single, rugged unit. Featuring a vibrant AMOLED VGA color display, the FX71-DL provides exceptional clarity and visibility for easy interpretation of A-Scans, B-Scans, and thickness readings, even in challenging lighting conditions.
Building upon the capabilities of the FX70-DL, the FX71-DL offers enhanced functionality, including three narrow band filters at 2MHz, 5MHz, and 10MHz, in addition to the broad bandwidth (1.8 - 19 MHz). These narrow bands provide improved signal-to-noise ratio for specific frequency applications, further optimizing transducer selection for various materials and inspection requirements.
This dual-function instrument allows users to accurately measure material thickness (with or without coatings), locate pits and flaws, and perform detailed flaw characterization. In thickness gauge mode, it can simultaneously measure both the material and coating thickness. In flaw detector mode, it offers comprehensive tools for detecting, sizing, and positioning flaws, as well as differentiating between flaw types in various materials and welded joints. Advanced features include automatic probe zero, recognition, and temperature compensation, as well as high-speed scan mode for rapid data acquisition.
With 4GB of internal memory, the FX71-DL allows for extensive data storage of readings and A/B-scan images in alphanumeric batches with full data logging capabilities. Data can be easily transferred to a PC via direct USB-C connectivity for further analysis and reporting using the included DakView3 PC software.
